Padmee, a 10-year-old cat, was found wandering alone in the snow, in a state of emaciation and poor health. Luckily, she was rescued by volunteers from Chatons Orphelins Montreal, who took Padmee into their care and gave her the medical attention, care, and love she desperately needed.
The volunteers gave Padmee her name and worked tirelessly to nurse her back to health. They found her to be incredibly skinny, weighing barely above 2.5 kg. It was clear that Padmee had likely lived on the streets for a long time, fending for herself against the harsh elements of the outdoors. The vet discovered some worrying masses on her nose and belly, but thankfully, they were benign. However, Padmee had developed diabetes, and she was immediately put on treatment.
Despite her rocky start, Padmee’s personality quickly blossomed once she was placed in a foster home. At first, she was shy, but with time she came out of her shell and began to show her gratitude and affection for her caregivers. She was curious and loved to explore, and she would often rub against her humans, asking for pets and cuddles.
One thing that quickly stood out about Padmee was her adorable “quacks,” which sounded like a duck’s call. She would greet her humans every morning with these signature sounds and some head rubs, always eager for attention. Her foster family soon found her to be a loving and affectionate cat who loved to be held.
With plenty of love, warm blankets, and nutritious food, Padmee’s health soon began to return. Her stomach issues totally cleared up, and she gained weight, filling out nicely. She became lively, cuddly, and playful, always seeking out her humans’ attention wherever they were in the house. She even liked to follow them around, just so she wouldn’t miss anything.
Padmee’s foster family found her to be a joy to have around a house. She loved to take naps with them, share couches, and watch TV together. Her favorite spot was in a basket by the window, where she could soak up the sun and be hugged by its warm rays. She had become content, happy, and totally at ease in her new surroundings, and it was clear she had found a place she could finally call home.
Despite her age and medical condition, Padmee is now ready for adoption, and her foster family is searching for a forever home that can provide her with the love, care, and attention she truly deserves. Padmee’s rescue story is a testament to the incredible resilience of cats, even in the face of hardship, neglect or abandonment.
It also highlights the importance of responsible pet ownership and making sure our pets are loved and cared for, no matter what. For many cats, life on the streets can be brutal and unforgiving, and it’s thanks to the dedication of kind-hearted people like the volunteers at Chatons Orphelins Montreal that cats like Padmee are given a second chance at a happy and healthy life.
