LEWISTON – On the morning of July 27th, Idaho Animal Rescue Network personnel were called to the scene of a hoarding situation involving 13 Great Danes on Tammany Creek Road in Lewiston. The organization says there are numerous minor injuries, no vaccines, no spay/neuters, possible pregnancies, and more. They need help with food, straw, vet care, and more. Two of the dogs appear to have been living outside in a kennel, and the rest were living in a garage in filth.
The owner passed away so help is needed as quickly as possible. Many supplies are needed. The majority of the dogs are ages 1-2 and very friendly. A couple are seniors. They’ve been on a terrible diet so the organization will be seeking food donations. They also need some manpower and muscle as well. If you can help, contact the Idaho Animal Rescue Network.
On July 28, volunteers assisted with removing the 13+ dogs from the residence. They are currently being checked by a veterinarian and given adequate care.
“We still have work to do, but we wanted the public to know the Great Danes are being cared for,” said Director Jenna Redheart.
The remaining animals at the residence are in the process of being evaluated and recovered as resources become available.
“The dogs are not out of trouble yet. We are combating heat exhaustion, medical issues, fleas, sores, ammonia exposure, and weight loss. They have a long road ahead of them, but I’m confident they will make a great recovery,” continued Director Redheart.
The vet bills are going to add up quickly and anyone willing to donate and offset costs would be greatly appreciated.
