According to WFXT, Malden Police Department and the Animal Rescue League have been investigating after a two-pound chihuahua was found in bad condition.
The dog was found in some bushes near the East Coast Greenway bike trail in Malden, Massachusetts, on July 25. The person who found the dog and named him Bailey and brought him to the police department, according to WFXT.
The dog was emaciated and sick when he was found. The ARL told WFXT that if the dog wasn’t found, it may not have survived. ARL also said that Bailey had severe fur loss and he was covered in scabs. He is also being treated for Giardia. WFXT said that Giardia is a parasitic disease that shows Bailey may have been living in unsanitary conditions before his rescue.
Bailey is continuing to receive medical treatment including medicated baths and going through a refeeding plan to help him gain some weight, ARL told WFXT. Bailey is currently not up for adoption.
