Are you a cat lover visiting Osaka, Japan? You might want to check out Neko no Jikan – Japan’s first-ever cat cafe! As a Japan Kitty Correspondent, I had the wonderful opportunity to visit this café and spend an hour with the adorable feline friends.
Located in the main branch of the café, along the bustling shopping street, I was able to hear a recorded meow that beckoned me inside. The sound made it easy for me to find the spot, and upon entering, I was impressed with the beautiful furniture and décor. I even saw a real cat tree!
Before heading into the main kitty committee area, I had to wash my hands for hygiene purposes. Once inside, I was presented with three sets to choose from – an hour with the kitties, an hour with the kitties plus a drink, and an hour with the kitties, a drink, and a sweet. I opted for the latter, and the bracelet on my wrist marked my choice.
The cat room was invitingly decorated with two low tables for easy kitty access and plenty of spots for climbing, napping, and hiding. The cats were friendly and didn’t shy away from human attention. I was also impressed that there was an escape door for the cats if the day proved to be too overwhelming.
After an hour of bonding with the kitties, it was time to head over to the café section where I was treated to some tasty Earl Grey tea and Affogato dessert. The menu showcased lots of yummy-sounding drinks (hot and cold) and snacks.
Neko no Jikan has two branches in Osaka: the main branch and the Amerikamura branch. If you’re a cat lover in Osaka, visiting either branch is a must. Spending time with the adorable felines is the perfect way to take a break from the city bustle and relax with cute and friendly furballs.
As a solo female traveler, I had plenty of money to spend on games, drinks, and delicious foods. I enjoy eating and drinking in a cozy environment as a way of relaxing and unwinding. And, my love for cats led me to discovering hidden treasures and fascinating spots around the world.
If you plan on visiting Osaka and browsing for ideas to fill your itinerary, I’d recommend checking out Neko no Jikan. The café is open every day from 12 pm to 9 pm except for Wednesdays. The popularity of the café is a testament to how cat cafes around the world are gaining traction and helping travelers find unique experiences. In Japan the cat café trend has escalated since 2015 when the number of cat cafes exploded.
Visitors can spend time between the two branches of Neko no Jikan and explore the different neighborhoods that each café is located in, as well as the shops and attractions nearby. My experience in the café, as well as the surrounding neighborhoods, left me with beautiful memories that I’ll cherish forever.
In conclusion, if you’re on the lookout for a peaceful yet fun-filled getaway, check out Neko no Jikan. You’ll get to enjoy delicious treats, beautiful décor, and cuddly cats. As a Japan Kitty Correspondent, I’m proud to have visited the first-ever cat café in Japan and urge you to make it a part of your Osaka adventure.
