COASTGUARD crews rushed to rescue a beagle named Bonnie who had got herself into difficulty near a clifftop.
Crews from Lulworth, Kimmeridge, and Wyke coastguard rescue teams were tasked to Scratchy Bottom, near Durdle Door, shortly before 11am this morning.
Bonnie the beagle had been reported as ‘disappearing’ over the cliff with the coastguard quick to deploy a ‘rope rescue system’ and lower a rope technician over the edge.
Bonnie was quickly located however wasn’t keen to join the technician and ‘remained at large for some time’.
Eventually, trust was gained – helped by the ‘temptation of food’ – and Bonnie was successfully recovered to the top of the cliff where she was reunited with her owner.
A spokesperson for Wyke Coastguard Rescue Team said: “Bonnie was quickly located but not eager to join the technician.
“The dog was called from the top by her owner but remained at large for some time. Eventually trust was gained, the temptation of food securing victory and her successful recovery to the top where Bonnie was reunited with her owner.”
