If you’re anything like me, then you have a soft spot in your heart for black cats. These mini panthers of the domesticated cat world are a favorite among many, and it’s easy to see why if you’ve ever shared your life with one. For one gorgeous girl cat named Moka, she’s a budding starlet on the internet thanks to her cute cat looks and photogenic face—but life wasn’t always easy for this pretty girl. I caught up with her cat mom hoping to feature her on the site, and thankfully, she agreed. So, everyone, get to know this sweet and funny kitty cat that seems to have found the purrfect forever humans who will always love her.
My boyfriend and I adopted Moka from a shelter in the small town of Beauharnois near Montreal, Canada. We had gone there to meet another cat but as soon as we entered the small room where Moka and five other cats were, Moka came straight to see me, meowing and rubbing my legs. We knew right away that she would be the one we would adopt that day. The shelter employee informed us that Moka had had babies and that they had all been adopted. Only Moka was still at the shelter. My heart immediately melted and we thought that Moka deserved a family that will love her for her whole life. She arrived home on January 7, 2021.
My boyfriend and I absolutely love coffee. We thought of the name Moka (or mocha in English) since her coat is black and turns brownish in the sun like a good mocha. Moka is very affectionate and protective. She likes to keep an eye on us no matter where we are in the apartment. She is very vocal and we know immediately if she is happy or not. This makes us laugh a lot because her range of sounds is changing day by day. She sleeps with us every night and wakes us up when she wants her hugs (sometimes at 3am). We love her personality and couldn’t have asked for more.
I can’t say exactly how she feels, but I find her very good when it comes to having her photo taken. I spoil her every time she collaborates with treats, games and lots of hugs. For us, the most important thing is that she is happy, so we never force her if she doesn’t want to take a photo.
Moka is the queen of naps like many cats, haha! She loves to play with her different toys: catnip toys, feather toys and balls. She also loves her different scratchers. A cat scratcher is essential for us! Otherwise, she recently started going on the balcony of our apartment (we are on the second floor) and she likes it a lot.
When we adopted Moka, she couldn’t stop eating! We found her very gluttonous for a 7.5 lbs cat. We believe this was trauma related, as she was abandoned and had to share her food with many other cats at the shelter. Now she regulates her food portions on her own and we are very proud of her!
Moka is a very special cat and we are grateful to have her in our lives. She brings joy and laughter to our home. We are so thankful for her. We want to give a special “thank you” to Moka’s cat, Laurence, for allowing us to share Moka’s story and images with all of the Cattitude Daily readers.
Moka’s story is a reminder that rescue cats are the best cats. We encourage everyone to consider adoption if they are looking to bring a cat into their lives. Adopting a rescue cat is a great way to give a loving home to a cat in need. It’s also a great way to save a life and make a difference.
