Winston, a two-year-old French Bulldog, is currently being fostered by Laura Baker, and her partner Sam Jukes in Pontefract, Yorkshire. However, while on a family holiday in Cornwall earlier this year, the couple noticed the pup struggling to breathe more than usual, despite keeping him cool during the hot days.
After seeing an ENT specialist, it was soon discovered that Winston was unable to breathe through his nose at all.
However, Winston has time against him to have the surgery completed before the surgeon retires later this month, who successfully operated on another Frenchie a few years ago.
A GoFundMe Page has been set up by Laura’s mother, Rachel Baker to help raise the £2,000 for the surgery.
The plea wrote by Rachel on the page reads: “As a rescue there is no way we will let this boy be adopted without him having this surgery as it is affecting his life daily!
“I know that it has been another tough year and we are asking for a lot, but please if you can just donate £1 that will really help!
“Every single penny helps and it will give this beautiful boy a much better quality of life, he will be able to go on nice walks and play without struggling to breathe.”
Rachel, a volunteer for dog’s charity, Northern Rose Boxer Rescue, was first made aware of Winston needing a forever home when he was brought to the shelter over three months ago.
Founded by Gail Hall over a decade ago, the non-profit organisation is dedicated to rescuing and rehoming mainly pure and crossbred Boxer dogs, although they have recently expanded to rescuing French Bulldogs and Pugs.
