It was a terrifying sight Thursday morning when a scared golden retriever was stuck on Sky Train tracks in Vancouver’s South Cambie neighbourhood.
According to CTV News Vancouver, the dog’s owner boarded a train just before noon, but the dog couldn’t get on before the doors shut.
“It’s any pet owner’s worst nightmare,” Const. Amanda Steed, Metro Vancouver Transit Police, told CTV.
The dog ended up on the tracks
“Canada Line staff immediately shut down the trains,” Steed said. “They powered down the tracks, went into the tunnel on foot and searched for the dog.”
Staff found the dog “running around scared” about 90 minutes later.
“It’s a miracle, really,” Steed said, noting the dog was unharmed.
“Anyone boarding a train with a leashed dog of any kind should exercise caution,” Steed told CTV.
