Resident Tony Gray caught the moment a very brave cat fought off a wild coyote outside his beach house in Surfside Beach, Texas, US, before finally escaping to safety
This is the moment a courageous cat survived a clash with a vicious coyote on the front porch of a beach house.
Resident Tony Gray’s home surveillance camera recorded the brutal battle outside his home in Surfside Beach, Texas, US.
The incredible night-time footage shows the plucky feline ducking and diving as it takes on the far larger coyote.
The cat initially jumps up and scratches its adversary across the face, before retreating under a sun lounger.
The moggie then holds its ground as it lashes out at the canine whenever it tries to crawl under the chair.
The coyote appears momentarily perplexed as he circles the cat, struggling to find a way to reach it.
Eventually the predator manages to smash the seating out of the way, forcing the moggie to run for its life.
The animal desperately clambers up the front porch railings in a bid to escape.
However, the coyote jumps up on the lounger and sinks its teeth into the cat, pulling it back down to the deck.
But the courageous cat refuses to accept its fate, turning around and slashing the coyote with its claws.
The feline then makes a final dash for freedom, scaling the railings and climbing up a wooden post, putting it out of reach of the coyote.
The frustrated predator runs around in circles before finally giving up, leaving the cat clinging to the post.
The feline eventually jumps down when the threat has passed.
Mr Gray shared footage of the clash on June 9 with his Facebook friends.
“Coyote upstairs on my beach house rear deck…” he wrote on Facebook.
Surfside Beach police told KTRK-TV that there was a coyote issue in the community.
It comes after horrifying footage showed the moment a woman dragged her cat by the lead across a road as she clutches a box of fried chicken.
The pet owner was walking in the rain outside KFC in Melbourne, Australia with the reluctant grey and white feline.
Those filming the incident from their car across the street can be heard laughing hysterically as the woman drags the helpless animal along in the vile clip.
Social media users have called out the woman for animal cruelty.
“People in the car laughing are right up there with the b***h dragging the cat,” one user said.
Another said: “How do you sit there and laugh at that?”
The RSPCA is now investigating the video after it gained a large number of views.

The statement said: “The treatment of the cat in the footage would be expected to cause it profound distress which could have been avoided in a number of ways.”
Despite walking a cat on a lead being uncommon, the animal welfare group said it is legal and sometimes preferred as the animals can prey upon native birds if they’re allowed to roam.
A study has found pet cats kill about 230 million native Australian animals a year and research published by the Guardian suggests cats, wild and domesticated cats are responsible for dozens of extinctions and threatens another 120 species.
