Tank, a tiny stray kitten, was found wandering the streets, in desperate need of a home. Luckily, Erica, a veterinary technician, came across Tank’s story through Charlie’s Army Animal Rescue, and immediately offered to help.
When Erica first took Tank in, he was dirty, underweight, and had some issues with his stomach. Despite all of this, he was thrilled to have a roof over his head, a person to cater to him, and a comfy bed to sleep in. Not only was Tank very talkative, but he also had a big personality and a big voice for such a tiny cat.
After two weeks of good food and great care, Tank was nursed back to health, and his energy level exploded. He constantly wanted to find someone to wrestle with, and would playfully pounce on anything that moved, including Erica’s feet.
To satisfy Tank’s need for company, Erica introduced him to her two resident cats, Sloane and Forest. Sloane immediately took the young kitten under his wing, but not without putting him in his place first. Tank had to learn about boundaries before he could become friends with Sloane.
Sloane began teaching Tank manners right away, but it wasn’t long before Tank’s playful and inquisitive personality won over the other resident cat, Forest. Tank was always in motion, and when he discovered a cardboard box, he would hop right in and spend hours entertaining himself. Even with two other cats to show him the ropes, Tank still liked to “scream” at his foster mom for attention from time to time.
After a month of being under Erica’s care, Tank went up for adoption. Carley, a loving cat owner, found Tank on social media and instantly fell in love with him. Carley had Jasper, a big tabby cat, who was looking for a friend, and she thought Tank would be the perfect fit. On the day of their meeting, Tank pulled out all the stops and won everyone over. He officially graduated from foster care and into his forever loving home.
Tank quickly made himself right at home with his new family, and couldn’t wait to hang out with Jasper. Tank and Jasper hit it off immediately, as if they had always been family. They became instant best friends, wrestling and napping together every day and night, and watching “bird TV” as a duo.
Tank and Jasper’s playful and loving interactions create unforgettable memories for their owners. Carley constantly expresses how grateful she is to have Tank in her life, and how he has made her little family complete.
Kitten rescues like Tank’s can have a happy ending, where a little bit of love and patience can transform a neglected, homeless kitten into a cherished family member with endless love to give. This heartwarming story is a reminder of how important it is to adopt rescue cats and support the work of animal rescue organizations. Giving an animal in need a second chance at a happy life can bring joy and love into our homes that we never thought possible.
