When a little orange and white kitten was found outside a home with a broken leg, he might have thought his life was over. But instead, he found a new lease on life thanks to the kindness of humans and the guidance of another feline friend.
Kayla, a staff member of Salem Friends of Felines, fell in love with the kitten when she saw him at the shelter. He reminded her of her own cat, and she couldn’t resist his snuggles and affection. Despite his broken leg, she knew he had a lot of life left in him.
So she took him home and named him Bibby, and introduced him to her cat, Mr. Beesley. While Mr. Beesley has a condition called cerebellar hypoplasia, which affects his walking, he’s still a happy kitty who loves to play.
After a brief introduction where they sniffed each other through a door, Bibby and Mr. Beesley hit it off immediately. Bibby gave Mr. B a loving head bump, and from then on, they were practically inseparable.
“They did so well together. Beesley loved to play with Bibby so much that he wouldn’t let him leave or take a break,” Kayla shared with Love Meow. From that day on, Mr. B wanted to be wherever the kitten was, watching over him like a big brother. He’d come running whenever Bibby wanted to play or needed a cuddle.
Mr. B even showed Bibby how to play with his favorite wand toy, and the two would take turns playing until they were tuckered out and fell asleep in a cuddle-puddle. They also loved spending time by the big window, watching the world go by during the day and watching TV together at night.
Bibby looked up to Mr. B and followed him around like his little protege. He even sneaked snacks from Mr. B’s food bowl and would copy whatever his buddy was doing. While they might have been different in some ways, they both loved life and each other.
Now, Bibby has blossomed into a fluffy young cat, thanks in no small part to Mr. B’s guidance and friendship. They might have started off as strangers, but they quickly became best friends who couldn’t imagine life without each other.
Their story is a testament to the power of friendship, even across species. It doesn’t matter if we’re different in some ways or face different struggles, as long as we have love and companionship, we can overcome anything. So thank you, Mr. B and Bibby, for showing us the power of friendship and the joy that comes from unconditional love.
