Milly the kitten is a fighter. Despite having hydrocephalus and a congenital defect that caused her to be born without a radius bone in her right front leg, Milly is full of life and energy. She was brought to Baby Kitten Rescue after her rescuer noticed her abnormality and a vet referral led her to founder Caroline Grace.
Caroline fell in love with Milly right away. The kitten was friendly, snuggly, and just wanted to be loved. Milly settled in quickly to her comfy new room, and when Caroline saw how happy she was just to be with her, she knew she had to do everything she could to give the kitten a full and joyful life.
Baby Kitten Rescue took Milly to a neurologist the next day to get a better understanding of her condition. Milly has hydrocephalus, which has caused a buildup of fluid in her brain. She is being treated with medication to try to reduce the pressure on her brain. Despite having an underdeveloped front part of her brain, Milly is showing very few neurological symptoms at the moment. She eats, plays, potties, and sleeps like a normal kitten.
Milly also has radial aplasia, which means she was born without a radius bone in her right front leg. Although this may sound like a painful condition, it does not cause Milly pain. She is able to use her leg functionally to walk, play, and scratch. For Milly, it is just a sweet little quirk that makes her extra special.
Ever since Milly was introduced to a tunnel toy, she has been obsessed with it. Milly has unbridled energy and bounces and pounces around with joy. Caroline loves how sweet, loving, and trusting Milly is. She is vivacious and joyful and spreads that joy to everyone around her.
When Milly is ready, she will have brain surgery to drain a cyst and implant a shunt to drain excess fluid, giving her the best quality of life possible. For now, Milly is busy catching anything that moves and honing her kitty prowess. When she tires herself out, she happily climbs into Caroline’s lap for a one-on-one cuddle session.
Milly is a little charmer who loves being held and snuggled. She adores everyone she meets and always comes running when she hears her foster mom calling her name. Milly is enjoying all the toys she has within grasp and plenty of hugs and snuggles she gets on demand.
Caroline believes that Milly deserves the chance to live a full and happy life, and she is doing everything she can to give that to her. Baby Kitten Rescue posts regular updates on Milly on their Instagram @babykittenrescue and Facebook pages.
