Narere family heartbroken after Navy officer allegedly attacks dog with a cane knife
A Narere family has been left heartbroken after their dog was attacked by a neighbour with a cane knife on Monday which left the animal in critical condition.
Vimal Prasad has told fijivillage that the suspect who is an officer in the Republic of Fiji Navy, allegedly entered their compound and attacked their dog which left a big gash on the dog’s head.
He says the suspect attacked the dog because it went into his compound but adds the dog did not attack the suspect.
Prasad says he is in shock as a result of this act because their dog is like a family member.
Prasad says they took their dog to the hospital on Tuesday and are currently giving him medication at home however he is still not eating properly.
Police have confirmed that they are investigating the matter.
When contacted, Navy Commander Commodore Humphrey Tawake says he is not in a position to make any comments because this is a police case.
