Molly, a Maltese Terrier, is the “loving companion” of a 79-year-old who lives in Werribee.
“The two then picked up the dog and started to leave the property when the owner came out to stop them,” Victoria Police said in a statement.
The offenders then left with Molly.
Police are urging anyone with information about the seven-year-old terrier to come forward.
