A pair of ex-greyhounds, a creative Collie and ‘sparky’ pug cross are all looking for their forever home this month. As the months become warmer, residents in North Devon are becoming even more tempted to go outside to enjoy the year’s sunshine.
It is sometimes difficult to remember there are hundreds of dogs across the UK who would love to share those walks with you and maybe the perfect addition to your family. Volunteers at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe have rehomed over 50 dogs already this year and continue to urge Devon residents to consider one of their adorable guests for their home.

Mullery
Mullery is a gorgeous 8-year old husky who arrived at the centre as a stray. Dogs Trust Ilfracombe say he can seem ‘aloof’ when you first meet him but is instantly friendly when he gets to know you. Although being described as ‘a bit chatty’ at first, Mullery gets on well with other dogs and would benefit from a home with other doggy pals. He loves a comfy bed and a snooze at the centre and would be loving company in a new home.
Nancy

Nancy is described by Dogs Trust as “an adorable little Lurcher who loves to be part of the action”. She loves to play and is always ready to jump in a car for long, quiet walks.
Although Nancy can be over-excited around other dogs, she is learning to wear a muzzle and is learning to mix gradually with other dogs. Nancy has previously spent time as an office dog and could do so again providing she is the only dog in there. She is looking for an active, loving home in a quiet setting.
Ivy
Ivy came to Dogs Trust Ilfracombe as a stray and has gained confidence thanks to the work of the centre’s foster homes. The three-year-old collie is very affectionate and loves fuss and snuggles but is looking for a home that will supply her with lots of physical and mental stimulation.
Ivy is a very creative girl and loves to come up with her own games, such as hunting for bugs or chasing moving water. These games can become compulsive but can be interrupted She is looking for an active, but calm household in a rural area. . Ivy seems to really like children and could share her home with teenagers.
Taz
Taz is an adorable Staffy-cross who arrived to the centre as a stray. Dogs Trust Ilfracombe have found Taz to be very affectionate and enjoys a fuss with his carers.
Although there have been instances of Taz giving strangers a ‘woof’, he has been instantly friendly with new people and is easy to win over. Although friendly with dogs, he is an intense greeter and may try to chase if they run around. He will need his walks to be at least 20ft away from traffic and would benefit from a quiet household.
Todd

Todd is a five-year-old Dutch Shepherd cross Staffy. He is intelligent and has lots of energy. He loves his toys and will carry one with him everywhere he goes. Todd enjoys a fuss and snuggles first thing in the mornings before he is busy playing ball. He is instantly friendly with new people and with those he knows he will go and meet and greet for a fuss.
Todd is looking for a loving adult home where he will receive plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. He is looking for adopters with experience and will need a quiet home where not too much is going on, ideally in a rural area. Potential adopters should be prepared to visit the rehoming centre a few times prior to adopting Todd.
Toby
Toby is a nine-month-old Belgian Shepherd cross. He is a super-intelligent young boy who would love positive-reward trick training classes. Great for mental stimulation which is what he needs along with physical exercise. He is energetic, fun, and bouncy.
Toby is looking for a loving home with adopters who can provide plenty of exercise as well as mental stimulation. He could share his home with teenage children and is looking to be the only dog in the home.
Franklin
Little Franklin is a small crossbreed, he is two-years-old and loves a fuss and snuggles. He is instantly friendly with new people. Franklin is happy to travel in the car to get to lovely walks.
He will need access to walks away from dog populated areas, his dog social skills do need some work and he will be training to wear a muzzle so that he sees it as a positive piece of equipment that is no different from having his harness and lead put on.
Franklin is looking for an active and loving adult home. He could cope with a reasonably busy household but will need access to quiet walks. Terrier experience may be helpful.
Francesca
Francesca is a ten-year-old Pug cross. She is bright and sparky, and despite being very overweight she loves to move. Francesca loves to play with toys, her favourites are the squeaky ones or a ball. She enjoys going for walkies (due to her weight her exercise will need to be built up gradually) and she is happy to travel in the car to get to quiet spots. She is uncomfortable around other dogs and is learning to wear a muzzle for safety and peace of mind. She will need access to walks in low dog populated areas.
Francesca is looking for a loving home and can share a home with children of 14 years or more. She has been known to ‘woof’ at distractions so is looking for a quiet home.
Prince
Prince the 9-month-old pug has become known at the centre for his unique looks and friendly nature. He loves a fuss and snuggles with his humans and with his doggie pals, he likes to play. He enjoys treats and would really benefit from positive reward training classes as he does not know many tricks and he would love the mental stimulation.
Dogs Trust Ilfracombe say that visitors should not be fooled by his puggish appearance and is described as the size of a small collie. As a crossbreed, he has bundles of energy and would benefit from an active family.
Ginger

Eight-year old Terrier Ginger can be quite the lapdog and once she knows you, she loves a fuss. Ginger has a playful side and likes to make friends with other dogs. She’d be happy to live with another dog in her new home, providing they match her playstyle.
Despite enjoying doggy company, Ginger is a sensitive girl and her main worry is meeting new people, particularly men, so the team have been working hard to help her to feel more comfortable when meeting strangers for the first time. Because of this, Ginger is looking for a female-only home with limited visitors so she can feel relaxed in her forever home.
We’d like Ginger’s new family to meet her numerous times, both at the rehoming centre and in the home, to get to know her gradually and help her feel at ease in her new environment. Therefore, her new family will need to live within an hour’s drive so we can facilitate this.
Ginger is looking for a family who will be dedicated to her training, something which will be supported by the rehoming centre both before and after she has been adopted. Ginger has great potential to make a loving companion in the right home.
Dora and Doris
Best friends Dora and Doris are ex-racing greyhounds looking to be rehomed together. Doris is a super sweet girl, the more confident one of the two. She is happy to meet and greet new people straight away. Doris adores affection, she loves soaking up the fuss and snuggles. Dora is the shy one of the duo but is happy to interact with humans once Doris deems it safe.
As ex-racing greyhounds, Dora and Doris may need some time to adapt to home-living, but would be the perfect dog duo for a loving family.
Tilly
Tilly is a beautiful eight-year-old Collie cross Lab. Since arriving at the centre she has been having fun and relaxing in a foster home on Dog Trust’s Home from Home Scheme. She is an affectionate girl who loves a fuss and snuggles.
Tilly is instantly friendly with everyone she meets. As a typical Labrador, she loves her food and like a Collie, she loves her ball and is always up for a game of fetch. After Tilly has had her exercise, she is happy to chill and relax. Her foster carers describe her as ‘being very well behaved and having a lovely nature.’
Tilly is looking for a loving, active and fun home and could share her home with children as young as eleven.
Dori
Dori is a beautiful 9-year-old terrier cross who loves everyone she meets. Volunteers at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe warn readers not to be fooled by her senior looks – Dori is an active girl who loves to play.
Dori loves playing fetch and having a fuss and gets on well with other dogs – although she prefers friends of a calmer temperament. Dori is suitable for a home with children as young as eight and will need a home with high fences.
Lupin

Lupin is a handsome seven-year-old Staffy cross who is friendly, affectionate and has bundles of energy. He is a happy boy who gets excited to meet people, he enjoys a fuss and likes snuggles.
Lupin is training to happily wear a muzzle when out and about and would benefit from careful, gradual socialisation with other dogs. He is looking for loving and active adopters with access to quiet walks. He is able to live in a busy environment and teenagers.
Jackson
Jackson is an eight-year-old Pomeranian cross Chihuahua. He is quite a sensitive little boy and a bit of a worrier so will need adopters who are understanding of his needs. Jackson absolutely loves his food: chicken as a treat is the way to his heart.
In a home Jackson is a joy, he is chilled and settles well making for great company. He will need his home to be in a quiet rural area though without outside distractions. Jackson can be concerned about seeing other dogs and can be quite vocal when meeting them so would like quiet walks, away from lots of people and dogs.
Wilson
Wilson is a one-year-old with a massive personality. He loves to go on adventures and play with like-minded dogs. Dogs Trust Ilfracombe describe Wilson as a “rough diamond” who has some quirks which include mouthing, grabbing clothing, resource guarding and the stealing of novel items.
Potential adopters must live within an hour of the Dogs Trust Centre in Ilfracombe as Wilson will need daily checkups in his new home prior to adoption. Wilson currently knows sit, paw, down and wait but will need a lot of further training once in his new home.
