Over the past four years since I became an animal activist, I have witnessed the suffering and cruelty that beagles endure at the hands of Scott Marshalls from Marshall BioResources and Robert Leasure Jr from Envigo Inotiv. These dogs are being subjected to abuse by workers at these facilities every day. They are starved, mistreated, neglected, and more, all for profit. These dogs are bred for outdated and painful science experiments, which are not scientific at all, just experiments.
I have seen footage of beagles being punched in the face, kicked, thrown, and yelled at, all while their abusers and breeders get away with it for profit. The USDA has turned a blind eye to the abuse, as they have done for many years. The UK government has enough evidence of criminal activity but also turns a blind eye, as they are paid to do so. The UK police have also helped cover up the crimes at MBR acres, as they are also paid to do so. The UK media has done nothing to stop the abuse, let alone talk about it, which is why I will continue to advocate for the beagles and those activists trying to make a change, even if they are the ones getting illegally arrested.
The UK government has given Envigo 700,000 euros to continue their abuse, which is heartbreaking. The world has advanced in technology, yet experimenters still believe it is okay to test and cut up puppies instead of paying for proper technology that can save lives.
The reason why television ads always have “side effect” warnings is that they don’t work. Vaccines and medication tested on animals don’t work for most people because their genetics are not the same as humans. However, as long as people like Scott Marshall and Robert Leasure Jr are allowed to get away with criminal activity, nothing will change.
We live in a world where technology advances every day, yet we continue to torture animals because of an outdated law that government officials are too afraid to change. Profit is the only motive, and no president is willing to stop it, even though there is no bill that makes animal testing illegal.
The abusers in these labs, universities, and breeding facilities will continue to abuse and hurt these dogs, leaving them alone for days without any care, while the owners of these breeding facilities get away with it. This is not justice, and it is terrifying.
We will continue to be the voice for these animals because they don’t have one. We will continue to fight for change until every cage is empty, and every lab animal is free.
