Cooper visited San Diego-based creative groomer Gabriel Feitosa in the USA, with his owner somewhat bizarrely requesting to “make him a giraffe”. The 29-year-old Californian groomer joked he “didn’t need asking twice” and got to work on the tall order.
Sir Winston Cooper ‑ the Bernedoodle’s full name ‑ left the salon after seven hours of scissoring, shaping and colouring of his curly locks with pet-friendly dyes.
The 29-year-old, who featured on ABC’s ‘Pooch Perfect’ in the states, has gone viral countless times for his wacky dog grooming creations, but Cooper’s transformation into a giraffe has been his most popular by far, with 39.6million views and counting.
He joined Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on ITV’s This Morning to defend his work after the clip went viral.
The groomer told the show: “Actually I was surprised with the reaction that happened on the internet. The Grinch look, a lot of people were very happy. I got a lot of calls of people wanting to bring their dog, flying from New York, everywhere, to make their dog a Grinch.”
Objectors have previously suggested the extreme pampering of pets sends out a worrying message that they could be viewed as novelty accessories rather than animals.
