Whenever a new season of The Block kicks off, we’re introduced to a fresh group of contestants who soon become famous faces.
But in 2022 it isn’t just the rookie renovators who’ll become household names, because there is a new talent on site set to steal hearts.

That star-in-the-making is Frankie the dog, who belongs to host Scott Cam.
Since The Block 2022 was filmed on a massive 60 acre property in Gisborne, Victoria, Scotty thought it was the perfect opportunity to bring Frankie with him.
“I used to have a dog on television… that was 20 years ago [on Backyard Blitz]. Lizzie used to be on tele with me and Rosie was on tele with me,” he told 9Entertainment.
“I haven’t had a dog on the tele for a while and I thought, ‘This is a perfect opportunity to introduce Frankie’. She’s a ripper, she’s very pretty and a beautiful dog.”

Frankie, who was rescued from the pound, is both Scotty’s family dog and a working dog on his cattle property.
Scotty explained that Frankie has been so well trained she had no stage fright around all the cameras, building equipment and people on site.
“She was fine – I’ve trained her pretty hard. I like to train dogs for work and to be responsible, so they don’t get run over and stay with me,” he said.
“But, apart from the cameras, I just let her go [and do her thing] She was running around, having fun – she loved it. She had a great day every day we were in the ute driving out there [across the site].”
Of course when you become famous on a reality TV show, it’s only natural that you have a social media presence to stay in touch with fans.
So Frankie has her own Instagram account @frankiecamthekelpie where you can see behind the scenes moments from The Block, along with her out and about with Scotty and chilling at home.

“My daughter just set that up about a week ago, and we’re going to start putting a few pictures on there and some stories. It’s going to be great for her and it’s going to be great for the show,” he added.
So now there’s an extra reason to watch The Block in addition to renovations, interior design and reality TV drama, especially if you’re a fan of dogs.
The Block: Tree Change will premiere on Sunday August 7 at 7pm on Channel 9 and 9Now. Stream every episode ever of The Block for free on 9Now.
